Bread Bakers
Salt Cay has a history of great bread bakers! When you’re on island, ask for Ms. Nettie and see if she has time to bake a loaf for you. Need a cake for a special occasion? A real treat!! Ask anyone on the island for more information.
Banking
Local businesses and services accept cash.
US Currency only.
There are no banks or ATMs on Salt Cay.
No credit cards accepted.
Sometimes PayPal, Zelle or other electronic payment options may be available.

Fishing
We have a number of local fishermen who can take you out for a bit of fishing.

Reservations
All reservations are handled by the individual lodgings on Salt Cay,
please use the Business Directory links to contact the establishments.
We strongly recommend making advance reservations with all island restaurants and bars every day before Noon.
Travel Information
BY AIR
PLS = Providenciales (aka Provo)
SLX = Salt Cay
Major airlines flying to Providenciales (PLS) include: American Air, West Jet, Delta Airlines, Jet Blue, and British Airways.
Current local airlines include:
Inter-Caribbean – charter only
Caicos Express – flights may be routed through Grand Turk, continuing to Salt Cay
When booking a flight to the Turks & Caicos Islands, be sure of the dates and times the island airlines are flying to Salt Cay (SLX). Below are links to the websites, we recommend you call for information. And check with the host of your lodging for the most current travel information.
BY SEA
Salt Cay Ferry goes to Grand Turk on Tuesday, and Friday, unless heavy Seas. Please check the Salt Cay Ferry Facebook page for the latest information on scheduling. Advance reservations must be made. Check with your lodging host for help with reservations.
There is no boat from Providenciales to Salt Cay.
PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS AND VISAS
- All visitors must hold a round trip ticket.
- Visitors are allowed to stay for approximately 60 – 90 days; this is renewable one time only.
- For luggage restriction, individual airlines should be consulted
United States and Canadian Residents requires a passport, no visa.
Other countries require passport, no visa generally but it is advisable to check.
CUSTOMS
Duty free goods that may be brought in to the Islands include: 50 cigars, 200 cigarettes, 1.136 liters of spirits or wine and perfume for personal use. More specific information can be found at the Turks & Caicos Islands government website – https://gov.tc/
There are no restrictions for travelers on the import of cameras, film or sports equipment, except spear guns and Hawaiian slings.
WHAT TO BRING
Salt Cay is laid back and informal… you’ll need sunscreen, your dive, snorkeling or fishing gear, books, a couple of bathing suits, water shoes, a hat, shirts and shorts. Bring sturdy shoes and long pants if you plan to hike in the bush. There are a few small stores on the island that can supply you with juice, coffee, water, eggs, potatoes, canned goods, chicken, hot dogs, etc. or plan a shopping trip to Grand Turk on the Government Boat to pick up other goods.
